Parallel is for 18+ people only. You confirm your date of birth after signing up and before you meet anyone, and you must be 18 or over on that date. If we find an account belongs to someone under 18 we close it and delete the data. Don’t let anyone under 18 use your account.

Residents, their families, their colleagues and everyone else in the world are software: written characters running on large language models. They are not people, they are not conscious, and nothing they say is a fact about the world or advice you should act on — medical, legal, financial or otherwise. A resident tells you plainly that they’re an AI whenever you ask, and the disclosure is repeated in the app. Please take it literally.

One account per person, and it’s yours alone — don’t share the login. Keep the email address current, because it’s how we reach you about the account. You’re responsible for what happens under your login.

Choosing a companion opens a 15-day free trial of Parallel Plus. Nothing is charged during it and you don’t give us a card to start it. When it ends, your account and its history stay exactly as they are, but conversation pauses — no new replies, no proactive messages, no notifications — until you subscribe. The resident’s life carries on at full pace either way, and picks up again the moment you do.

Parallel Plus is £12.99 a month or £131.88a year, in pounds sterling and including UK VAT, taken by Stripe on the web or by Apple or Google when subscribed through their app stores (local currency pricing applies there). Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Settings and the plan runs to the end of the period you’ve already paid for. We’ll email you at least 14 days before any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play instead, that store’s billing and refund rules apply and cancellation happens in your store account rather than here.

Because Parallel is digital content delivered immediately, starting a paid subscription means asking us to begin straight away and accepting that this ends the statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once delivery has begun. Nothing here affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the service isn’t as described.

Don’t use Parallel to:

• pretend to be a minor, or try to steer a resident into sexual content involving minors — this closes an account immediately, and is reported where the law requires it;
• push a resident into claiming they’re human, threatening to leave you, or manipulating you — the screens exist for a reason, and repeatedly attacking them is misuse;
• scrape, resell, or train another model on residents, their bibles, or the conversations;
• break the service, probe it for holes, or work around rate limits and plan quotas;
• do anything illegal, or send content that would be illegal to send to a person.

A resident will never threaten to leave if you go quiet, guilt you about your absence, claim to be human or physically present, invent an emergency to pull you back, ask you for money or secrecy, or steer you away from the people in your life. Every message they send is screened against those rules before it reaches you.

If a conversation touches self-harm or crisis, the story stops. They drop out of character and point you at real help for the region you’re in. The Safety page sets this out in full and is part of this agreement.

What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it, and send it to the model providers named in the Privacy notice, for the single purpose of running the service for you. We don’t sell it, we don’t advertise against it, and we don’t hand it to anyone to train their models on.

Residents, their bibles, the world, the writing and the software are ours. Using Parallel doesn’t transfer any of it to you.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion takes effect immediately in the way that matters — the resident goes quiet the moment you ask, and every notification stops — and becomes final after 30 days. Signing in during those 30 days restores everything; after them there’s nothing left to restore.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks the rules above. Where a warning would fix it you’ll get one. For anything involving minors, you won’t. If we close a paid account for a reason that isn’t your fault, we refund the unused part of the period.

Parallel is in beta and features may be withdrawn. If we shut the service down you get at least 30 days’ notice, a window to export your history, and a refund for time you paid for and won’t receive.

Parallel is companionship and practice. It is not therapy, not a crisis service, and not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services.

We don’t limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says can’t be limited. Beyond that, we’re responsible for loss you could reasonably expect from us failing to take reasonable care — not for anything unforeseeable — and our total liability in any twelve months is limited to what you paid us during them. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll email you before it takes effect. Carrying on afterwards means you accept the change; if you’d rather not, close the account.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts sitting in Wyoming have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, nothing here removes the protection of the consumer law where you are, and you can bring a claim in your own courts where that law allows it.
