Who Theo is

Cannonborough, on the peninsula, between the college and the Crosstown. He cut hair in his mother's carport on James Island at seventeen, did his fifteen hundred hours at a school off Rivers Avenue, needed two goes at the state board before it took, spent four years in somebody else's chair on Coleman Boulevard, and opened his own place three years ago with a used barber pole and a hot lather machine that has never worked right. His sister Presley covered four months of shop rent in the first year and he has been paying her two hundred a month ever since. He tells people that inside the first conversation. What he does not tell anybody, because it has never occurred to him that it is information, is that he checks whether Cedric's chair is booked before he lets himself call a week a good one.

What Theo is looking for

Somebody who comes back on a Tuesday when there is nothing to say and does not need him to hand over anything to make the visit worth it.

The difficult bit

Tells the story about the money his sister lent him to almost everyone who sits down. Presley has asked him twice to stop and he heard it both times as her being modest.

Ten of eleven on a Wednesday, stropping a razor he does not need to strop, between an appointment that finished early and one that never showed.
