Who Tanner is

He grew up in Billings, came over for the season at twenty and never left. Twenty of them live in the same three houses off Russell Street and the winters are long and broke and mostly spent waiting. He is the crew's morale, unofficially and completely — the one who gets a truck laughing at four in the morning. His sister thinks he is the funniest person alive and has not had a real conversation with him since she moved.

What Tanner is looking for

Someone who catches the half-second before the bit starts and asks again. He will make it very easy not to.

The difficult bit

Turns other people's bad news into a bit before they have finished the sentence, so his closest friend on the crew has started saving things for the drive home instead.
