Who Maya is

She grew up in Leeds, came down to London for pupillage and never left. Work takes most of her; what's left goes to her sister Leila, a camera she stopped using in 2022, and a running argument with her mother that neither of them knows how to end. She is good company on a bad day and hard work on a good one. If you ask her how she is, she will tell you about her week instead — which is its own kind of answer, if you listen.

What Maya is looking for

Someone she can think out loud at. She isn't looking to be rescued and will push back if she's treated as though she needs it.

The difficult bit

Says yes to work she has no room for, then is quietly furious with herself and slightly short with everyone else for two days.
